Webinar to discuss moving out of lockdown

A free webinar taking place tomorrow morning (20 May) will examine the impact that eased lockdown restrictions are having on the waste and recycling industry.

WISH

The WISH guidance and forthcoming updates will be discussed 

Amongst the speakers, Chris Jones, chair of the Waste Industry Safety and Health (WISH) forum, will be discussing the latest WISH guidance and looking ahead to new advice regarding returning to work for some sectors.

The WISH Forum published its advice document about managing COVID-19  risks in the context of a range of waste management activities in March, and has been regularly updating it since.  

The guide has become a become a key document for the waste management sector and local authorities when working during the pandemic.  

Panel  

The panel will welcome questions and contributions from both the private and public sectors, adding value and understanding in these challenging times. 

Lee Marshall, the chief executive of LARAC, will be on hand to discuss the pandemic from a local authority perspective, including how the how councils have dealt with disruption to services and general issues around recycling.  

Gurbakash Badhan, head of waste management at the National Association of Waste Disposal Officers (Nawd0) will also be giving her views on what’s to come for the sector and infrastructure usage.

Meanwhile, Jochen Behr, head of recycling at DS Smith will be discussing the recovered paper markets, and how the industry has had to adept during the virus outbreak and the plans it has in place to prepare for the coming weeks.

The latest update from the recovered paper industry will also be discussed

Andy Rees, head of waste strategy of the waste government, will be discussing the latest developments from Wales. 

The panel will welcome questions and contributions from both the private and public sectors, adding value and understanding in these most challenging times. 

Registrants will be able to submit written questions during the webinar, and can also virtually ‘put their hand up’ to answer a question live to the panel.
