Wastepack acquires Integra Compliance schemes

By 22/02/2017News

Wastepack Group has acquired Integra Compliance Ltd, strengthening its position in the packaging waste and waste electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) compliance sector.

Stafford-based Integra Compliance Ltd operates three compliance schemes – Compliance Link, SWS Compak and WEEE Link.

The acquisition sees Wastepack grow to 11 packaging and WEEE compliance schemes

The Group was established in 2001 by Edward Cooke and Geoffrey Hadfield, who stepped down as directors from the company in December 2015 and February 2017 respectively.

Packaging producers aligned with the schemes have in the past included Fyffes Group and Electrolux. WEEE Links producer members have included Bodum and Chubb Fire & Security.

Lynne Cullis, the chief executive of the Wastepack Group, has been appointed sole director of the Group on 15 February, according to Companies House.

The business, which has been purchased for an undisclosed sum, sees Wastepack Group expand its portfolio to 11 compliance schemes.

Its existing compliance schemes are Wastepack (SEPA), Wastepack (EA), Wastepack UK (NIEA), Recycle Wales, Onepack, Electrolink, and Nilwaste.

Integra

Commenting on the acquisition, Wastepack said that Integra had enjoyed ‘noticeable success over the years’, offering low cost compliance to its members.

Ms Cullis said: “This acquisition complements our existing businesses as its founding principles mirror our commitment to delivering best value and a very high level of service.”

She added: “We believe in the development of the compliance sector and our latest acquisition demonstrates our commitment to driving forward long term efficiency and sustainability for all obligated producers.

“We share Integra’s dedication to delivering value to customers, and our first priority will be to make sure that all the customers in the recently acquired Integra Group continue to receive best value and an extremely high quality service and we look forward to working alongside them in the future.”

Compliance

Under the Packaging Waste Regulations, producers with an annual turnover of £2 million or above which handle more than 50 tonnes of packaging are obligated to show they are recycling.

Similarly, any business which manufactures, imports or rebrands electrical or electronic equipment are obligated to contribute towards the costs of collection, treatment and recycling of WEEE.
