Waste2Resource secures German RDF contract

By 21/11/2017News

Shropshire-based refuse derived fuel (RDF) exporter Waste2Resource has signed a 10 year agreement with MHKW Rothensee to export waste to the company’s plant in Germany.

The MHKW Rothensee plant sited in Magdeburg, Germany

The plant, located in Magdeburg, has been in operation since 2005. The plant processes on average 650,000 tonnes of waste a year, generating 370,000 MWh of power and 350,000 MWh of district heating, supplying local households and businesses. The waste-to-energy plant is a joint project between German-based EEW Energy from Waste and SWM Magdeburg.

Last month MHKW Rothensee also signed a contract with RDF exporter Andusia. (see letsrecycle.com story)

According to Waste2Resource, the contract will reduce the use of fossil fuels and prevent harmful emissions which occur through depositing the waste on landfill sites in the UK.

Contract

Commenting on the contract, Rolf Oesterhoff, commercial managing director at MHKW said: “We have been working with Waste2Resource since 2014 and are proud to re-affirm our business relationship by signing a 10 year contract.  The contract signing was also unique in our experience as we signed this at the recent Champions League match at Anfield, where we were joined by Liverpool legend Phil Neal.”

“This contract cements the existing relationship we enjoy with MHKW and further develops our position in the RDF export market with a well-respected European partner.”
