Visionscape buys Sellers Containers

By 12/12/2017News

Visionscape has continued on its acquisition trail in the waste equipment and supplies sector with the purchase of Sellers UK from Egbert H. Taylor’s.

Last month Dubai-based Visionscape bought Gelpack, a food and waste sacks and liners company in Hereford. Today it was revealed that it has now bought Oldham-based Sellers Containers from Egbert Taylor which itself purchased Sellers in 2013.

The sale to Visionscape’s ‘Vision Container Solutions’ operation comes after a restructuring, earlier this month, within the Taylor business (see letsrecycle.com story).

Taylor, which has its manufacturing site near Droitwich, acquired Oldham-based Sellers in 2013 from the Sellers family in a “multi million pound” deal (see letsrecycle.com story).

Describing its sell-on of the Sellers business, Taylor’s said today that it was “a privately arranged transaction that has strengthened Egbert H. Taylor’s financial position and laid the foundations for continued domestic and international growth.”

Visionscape heralded the deal as part of its “strategic focus on broadening its product and service offerings as it ventures into emerging markets. It also serves the Group’s commitment to operating responsibly by supporting circular economy initiatives.”

‘Proud’

Marcus Davies, previously general manager, has been appointed as managing director of Sellers. Mr Davies said: “We are excited about this new chapter and are very proud of the solid reputation that has come to be synonymous with the Sellers name and brand. As we embark on the next phase of our over 40-year journey, we embrace the opportunities and exponential growth that comes with the resources of the Visionscape Group, most especially expansion into global markets.”

Brendan Murphy, chief executive at Egbert H. Taylor, remarked: “This is a positive move for the business and one that will enable us to invest more time in building on the success of Taylor, which is quickly becoming a truly international brand. We now look forward to growing our UK and international sales, expanding our wide-ranging product portfolio and building on our reputation for delivering unparalleled customer service throughout the waste industry at home and overseas.”

Integration

Putting a group perspective on the Sellers deal, Harry Ackerman, executive director of Visionscape, said: “The addition of Sellers to our portfolio of companies is a strategic fit for the Visionscape Group. The vertical integration into bin manufacturing affords us the ability to extend our capabilities further by building on Sellers’ outstanding reputation.”

Sellers specialised in the supply of skips and containers for the waste, demolition and biomass sector. Products are primarily made from UK steel and roll-on and –off containers are major line for the company.

Marcus Davies added that Sellers strives to support local suppliers. “We have a range of specialities including food waste and hazarouds waste containers. We also specialise in waste to energy containers from road to rail.”

Sellers is currently exporting to Nordic regions and elsewhere and expects to strengthen its export work with Visionscape as its new owner.
