Suez highlights festive recycling messages

By 09/12/2016News

Recycling and waste firm Suez has issued a festive reminder to recycle as much as possible during the Christmas season – highlighting its message in a webinar hosted in partnership with letsrecycle.com.

Titled ‘Tis the Season to Recycle! Engaging your residents to increase recycling participation and minimise contamination’ the hour-long webinar touched on best practice for communication with residents to increase recycling and tackle contamination.

Chaired by letsrecycle.com news editor Will Date – participants included Sarah Ottaway, national recycling manager at Suez recycling and recovery UK and Becky Davies, recycling development officer at Warwick city council.

Looking at festive and non-festive examples of where communications can be targeted to reduce contamination and boost recycling at the kerbside, the webinar has also coincided with the launch of Suez’s #recycle4Christmas campaign, through which it is sharing a series of social media materials to promote recycling during the Christmas period.

#recycle4Christmas campaign

Available for free to local authorities, public bodies or anyone seeking to promote recycling at Christmas, materials include a mix of video content and images as well as pre-prepared Facebook posts and tweets.

Commenting on the initiative, Sarah Ottaway said: “The #recycle4Christmas campaign has evolved from work with our clients to boost recycling and reduce contamination over the festive period. With social media being such a widely used and cost effective way for local authorities to interact with their residents, we realised that our efforts in creating this content could benefit others trying to achieve the same goal.

“Together we can push these key operational and material messages to an even wider audience. So join in and let’s encourage everyone to #recycle4Christmas!”
