Smart Solutions retain Masters of Waste Scotland trophy

A four-man team from Smart Solutions has retained the winner’s trophy at the third Masters of Waste Scotland golf tournament held at Gleneagles on 8 June.

The team of Wynn Morgan, Phil Hall, Rhys David and Tom David triumphed with a score of 82 points, seeing off competition from UKCM, whose four-man team scored a total of 77 points.

The tournament was organised by letsrecycle.com and sponsored by: Contenur, Hadfield, Nathan Waste Savers, Red Kite, Smart Solutions and UKCM.  Golfers competed for the team and individual trophies over 18 holes on the Kings Course Fidra Links at Gleneagles.

Other teams to have competed included the 2015 champions Nathans Waste Savers, Blue Group (3rd place), William Tracey Group, EWC, Neales Waste Management, T2E, Helistrat, Contenur, and NNWH Group.

Winners

On the individual front, Smart Solutions’ and ex British Lion Tom David won the individual prize with 36.

Dales McBurnie from NWM Group also picked up the prize for the longest drive, which he hit on the 4th hole, whilst Robin Baird of Falkirk Council won the nearest the pin accolade, with a tee shot on the 16th hole.

The best dressed prize went to team Helistrat, for all donning the Stewart tartan “trews”

Golfers also played a charity hole, supporting Aberlour the largest Scottish children’s charity, and raised £200 on the day.

Rob Mowat, director at letsrecycle.com, said: “We were delighted to see familiar and new faces returning for our third Masters of Waste Scotland. We all got wet through but had a lot of fun and dried out in the bar afterwards. I’d like to thank all the sponsors of the event for their support.”

Mr Mowat added: “I would also like to congratulate all of the winners and runners up for their fantastic efforts out on the course.”
