Recycle Now ‘blown away’ by commercial backing

By 03/08/2020News

The national recycling campaign for England, Recycle Now, says it has been “blown away” by the response to its call for commercial backing for the 17th annual Recycle Week.

PepsiCo, Reckitt Benckinser, Ecosurety and Suez have joined Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Co-op, Britvic, Highland Spring, Unilever UK and Ireland, Lucozade Ribena Suntory and Danone among those to support the campaign.

Recycle Week is to run from 21-27 September under the banner ‘Together – We Recycle’

Planning

Craig Stephens, Recycle Now campaign manager at WRAP, said: “Planning for this year’s Recycle Week has been challenging, as lockdown meant that we had a very short lead time.

“We were thrilled that the companies we approached were universally positive”

“We were thrilled that the companies we approached were universally positive, and it’s fantastic that many have signed up and shown their commitment to back the campaign.

“We’re working hard to make sure that Recycle Week 2020 is the biggest and best yet!”

The donations will help fund activity during the week to inspire the nation to recycle more of the right things, more often, Recycle Now says.

The aim of this year’s campaign is to thank everyone for continuing to recycle despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It has been heartening to see householders’ enthusiasm and commitment for recycling”

Innovative

John Scanlon, SUEZ recycling and recovery UK CEO, said: “As a long-time supporter of WRAP’s annual Recycle Week, when we were approached to make a donation to the 2020 campaign we were delighted to be able to help. Their fun and innovative campaigns have a proven track record of encouraging the behaviour change that, together with policy reforms, is vital if we are to realise the UK’s environmental ambitions.

“In what has been a challenging year to date, it has been heartening to see householders’ enthusiasm and commitment for recycling, and we’re proud to be the first recycling and waste management company to back WRAP’s 2020 campaign to inspire the nation to recycle more of the right things, more often.”
