NWH Group acquires Armstrong Waste Management

NWH Group has acquired Armstrong Waste Management Limited, the waste management division of industrial services contractor the Armstrong Group, for an undisclosed fee.

The Scottish waste management firm says its acquisition of the Dumfries-based business is expected to add a further 10% to its annual turnover.

While Armstrong Waste Management is to be rebranded as NWH Group, it is to retain its current staff.

Agriculture

Formed in 1965 as an agricultural contractor serving the Kirkcudbrightshire farming community, the Armstrong Group operates in sectors including construction, property and renewable energy.

The rebranded Armstrong Waste Management will continue to operate from its Glasgow Road site and provide skip hire, trade waste services and materials recycling to the south west and central Scotland and the north of England.

Armstrong Group founder Jock Armstrong said: “NWH share the same family values and we are delighted to be passing the reins to a business that shares the same customer-focus as we do, and I’m confident that the longstanding relationships we have built over the years will be nurtured by NWH Group.

NWH Group

Established in 1987, NWH Group serves Scotland and Newcastle from ten sites. The company currently employs 346 staff.

It says it turns the waste it collects into products such as cardboard, paper, washed sands, biomass for energy and animal bedding.

The company last expanded when it acquired the waste wood division of Dundee-based DJ Laing Recycling Solutions (see letsrecycle.com story).
