Cawleys has signed a contract with fleet software company r2c Online

The contract is part of a digital investment for optimised fleet and workshop management.

Cawleys reported that the move to online compliance management follows a period of rapid business growth, with heavy investment put into its four depots, an 88-strong specialist vehicle fleet and in-house workshop.

Phil Gudgeon, director of waste collection and logistics at Cawleys, explained: “Our staff can work collaboratively with real-time changes and you know exactly where you are with compliance. What sets r2c apart is the quality of both the product and the service; the platform is easy to use and the service is both friendly and professional, so you know you’re in safe hands.”

Wheeldon invests in Polaris

Manchester-based Wheeldon Brothers Waste has invested in a Polaris one-step shredder from Mach-Tech.

After visiting Mach-Techs Open day held in Cumbria last June and witnessing the throughput of the Polaris, the company’s director James Wheeldon decided that the Polaris was the shredder he needed.

The Lindner Polaris uses a 60ml screen producing a 50ml product with the tonnage of 18 tonnes P/H.

Wheeldon is a large operation that deals with commercial, industrial, construction and some municipal waste. Wheeldon has seven picking lines to sort recyclables and anything that cannot be recycled is transferred to their facility in Ramsbottom, Bury, where the Polaris is situated.

The out-put material from here goes into SRF, oversized SRF, cement kilns and sold to brokers for exportation.

LSS goes paperless

Leeds-based waste solutions provider, LSS Waste Management has announced it is going paperless.

LSS has upgraded the software package it uses to manage its 75 strong fleet of skip trucks and roll-on roll-off vehicles.

The software is also used for bookings, deliveries and collections for the 2,000 plus skips it currently has in service.

LSS reports that it collects and recycles a quarter of a million tonnes of both domestic and commercial building waste every year in Yorkshire.

The upgrade has seen LSS switch from the ISYS Gatehouse Skipman software package to ISYS’ Weighsoft 5 browser based software.

The new package features both customer and supplier portals, plus numerous mobile applications, automated weighbridge interfaces, and links to on-board weighing. It also features modules that cater for various industry requirements, including tonnage charges, automatic waiting time charging and permit management.

Crawfords takes delivery of refuse truck

Crawfords of Beith has taken delivery of a new refuse truck to expand its commercial collection rounds in Inverness.

The Munro Daf CF with Incomol Pusher 4000

The investment is part of the company’s ongoing contract with recycling company Munros in the Scottish Highlands.

The 8×4 Daf CF, with Incomol Pusher 4000 and fitted with skip arms and trade bin lift, was purchased to meet increasing demand and was supplied by Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd (RVS).

RVS were able to provide an interim hire vehicle of a similar specification to meet Munros’ short deadline whilst the new vehicle was being built.

This is the second new vehicle supplied by RVS to Crawfords of Beith – the first being a DAF CF fitted with an Olympus 23W body and fitted with a Beta Trade bin-lift.

Hadley Recycling invests in JCB Hydradig

Hadley Recycling and Waste Management’s new JCB Hydradig 110W helps keep the throughput flowing at the company’s site in Berkshire.

At its transfer station, located just outside Theale, the waste management and skip hire company processes approximately 1,000 tonnes of mixed waste each week.

Servicing Reading and the surrounding areas, the site can accept all industrial and commercial waste, including hardcore, metal, wood, paper and cardboard, soil and plastics.

The waste brought onto the site in skips and bins gets tipped in the building for sorting and the Hydradig performs the pre-sort.

According to JCB, the Hydradig is equipped with a swivelling selector grab for sorting waste, allowing the operator to spot a piece of contamination among a waste pile and pick it up with the swivel grab to remove it from the pile.
