A team of four from logistics firm DHL won the Masters of Waste 2020 golf tournament last week (9 September), with a score of 99 points.
The team, consisting of Simon Potter, Charles Kock, Chris Brown and Ashley Smart, won the prestigious tournament organised by letsrecycle.com and held in association with Tegos Group at Brockett Hall, Melbourne course, near Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
It was a closely fought battle though, and it took a count back to separate them from the Blue Group, whose team consisted of of Terry Hughes, Tom Lee, Richard Monks and Matt Scott.
CSH Environmental’s Mark Slade, Paul Gregory, Brett Ridgers and Tim Day, finished third with an overall score of 97 points.
On the individual front, John Smith (Wybone) won with an individual score of 46, runner-up Matt Boxer (KP waste) had 45 points and Brett Ridgers (CSH) came third with 42 points.
Waste and recycling professionals from across the industry took part in the event.
[gallery_placement]The 2020 trophy means DHL has now won the trophy for the third time in five years, after also picking up the green jacket in 2015 and 2018.
London-based waste management firm Powerday picked up the coveted trophy in 2019 (see letsrecycle.com story).
Competitions
Paul Gregory from CHS picked up the ‘Nearest the Pin’ which was sponsored by Miles Smith, whilst Ashley Smart of DHL won the ‘Nearest the Pin in Two Challenge’ Sponsored by Blue Group.
Chris Slack from Warwick Ward won ‘Longest Drive’ sponsored by Fireward and Elliott James from KP Waste won Straightest Drive sponsored by Sharpe Prichard.
