Dunmow invests in 15 Hyva skip loaders
Dunmow Waste Management has invested in 15 Hyva skip loaders which are due to be delivered this Spring.
Dunmow already operates a range of Hyva equipment
The company already operates six Hyva hookloaders and 28 skiploaders, and has continued to invest in the equipment as it expands its fleet.
The loaders are combined with a Hyva Easy Sheet system, which is able to cover a container in less than one minute.
It also comes with a radio remote system, which controls both the body and the sheeting system from a handheld unit, enabling the driver to position themselves safely whilst operating the loader.
Dunmow CEO Sam Malins praised the Hyva radio remote control system for its “usability” and the Easy Sheet system for its “design, effectiveness. and speed in operation”.
Commenting on the design and application of his Hyva skiploaders, Mr Malins said: “They look good, a really tidy unit that’s been built with the operator in mind and they are easy for the driver to operate and provide good visibility”.
Mr Malins added: “Hyva products are built for the job and I have confidence that if anything does go wrong, it will be rectified”.
Hyva describes itself as one of the world’s leading providers of transport solutions for the commercial vehicle and environmental service industries.
It has over 20,000 customers and more than 40% global market share in front-end tipping cylinders.
Biffa fits c-trace weighing system to RCVs
Biffa has fitted a c-trace weighing system to 17 of its refuse collection vehicles (RCVs).
The c-trace weighing system provides accurate weights of glass and food waste collected from pubs, restaurants and supermarkets across the UK.

It works by weighing two 240 litre bins simultaneously on a rear-lifter of the RCV, providing net weights in 1kg increments.
Biffa’s Jon Frere, depot manager, said: “Dedicated food and glass collections are the responsible way of collecting these materials from environmental and sustainability perspectives and it also it keeps residual waste costs down for the producer by diverting these materials to appropriate recycling streams.
“The c-trace weighing system not only enables us to monitor what we are collecting but helps us provide accurate weights to our customers who have important KPIs to meet as they continuously seek to maximise efficiency and minimise waste in their operations”.
Suez crews give top rating to e-one
Suez crews gave the e-one electric refuse vehicle a ’10 out of 10′ rating during a recent three day trial.

As part of Suez’s contract with the Somerset Waste Partnership, drivers and loaders gave the vehicle “top marks across the board”, including controls, and vehicle performance.
The e-One refuse truck is a joint initiative between RVS and Dutch electric power train developers EMOSS, to repower and convert diesel refuse vehicles into electric vehicles in the UK.
James Griffin, technical manager for the fleet department at Suez recycling and recovery UK said: “Road testing new equipment with our frontline teams provides valuable feedback on performance and it’s important that they are on board with any new technology.”
“They were really impressed with the e-One vehicle overall. The driver had only positive comments regarding its performance and the lack of ambient noise around the vehicle without the diesel engine running, which meant the crew could hear traffic approaching and other external noises more clearly, improving safety”.
Mercedes-Benz creates department for Econic trucks
Mercedes-Benz has created a Special Trucks department for its Econic truck models.

Fleet sales of the Econic were previously part of the Mercedes-Benz key account management department, however the responsibility for the product has now been transferred to the Special Trucks team.
Special Trucks will continue to manage customer and dealer relationships, while also working to introduce the fully electric Mercedes-Benz truck models to the UK market.
Head of product and marketing, Ross Paterson, commented: “The decision to bring Econic under the Special Trucks ‘umbrella’ will help us to give this important vehicle the heightened sales focus it deserves.
“Our municipal sales and special application managers are more technically orientated than the average truck sales specialist. Given the nature of the product, and the fact that the bodywork with which these chassis are fitted typically represents a very substantial capital investment, this is entirely appropriate. It’s imperative we offer the sales support that customers and our Dealers can rely on to ensure vehicles are 100% suited to their requirements.”
