Letsrecycle Live to host white collar boxing

By 22/11/2018News

A sector-wide White Collar charity boxing event is to be held at the new Letsrecycle Live exhibition and conference event to be held next May.

The boxing event will take place on the evening between the two show days with funds raising going to the Child Bereavement Charity.

The boxing will take place at the end of the first day of the inaugral letsrecycle Live

Volunteers who would like to compete are now invited to contact the organisers. The event is aimed at beginners and is open to both male and female competitors and participants will receive eight weeks’ worth of free training at their local gym, delivered by professional coaches.

“At the end of the eight weeks, boxers will be fairly matched based on fitness, weight, ability and age to ensure a fair and competitive bout. So whether you fancy yourself in the ring or can’t box your way out of a (recycled) plastic bag, there will be a spot for you!” said event organiser Ali McQueen.

The bouts will take place on the evening of 22 May 2019 at the NAEC (the former Royal Show venue) at Stoneleigh, Coventry – during Letsrecycle Live.

Formal rules will be imposed around the boxing including regarding gloves, scoring, protective equipment and other related matters.

‘Industry comes to life’

Letsrecycle Live is described as ‘where the industry comes to life’ and will encompass the entire waste and recycling industry. “With eight zones, more than 10 networking events, and a host of additional features and things to do, this new event promises to redefine what it means to attend an industry trade show,” said Mr McQueen.

The one-off boxing experience will take place after the first day of the event.  It will raise money for the Child Bereavement charity which supports people when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.
