By 29/06/2018News

Council officers and waste businesses have their last chance to secure reduced rate tickets for the annual LARAC Conference taking place from 10 – 11 October 2018. The ‘early bird’ rate expires on 3 July.

The LARAC Conference and Celebration Awards, which takes place at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham, is the leading event in the local authority waste and recycling calendar.

The LARAC Conference and Celebration Awards is taking place from 10 – 11 October in Nottingham

This year’s conference is expected to attract over 400 attendees – many from local and central government.

Workshops

Day one will feature sessions on the outlook of the UK waste sector and communication campaigns. On day two delegates have the opportunity to attend focussed workshops on topics including food waste, and restrictions in residual waste collections.

The event includes talks from local authorities, national waste management companies and retailers, with a keynote address from Labour MP Mary Creagh, the chair of Parliament’s Environmental Audit Committee.

There will be a pre-event for members of 9 October and a 2-day exhibition with key suppliers, along with many opportunities to network and share ideas.

Awards

The event also hosts the annual LARAC awards, now in its tenth year. With a total of six categories, the awards programme recognises the achievements and hard work of local authority recycling officers and their colleagues over the past 12 months.

“The feedback we get from delegates year on year shows the LARAC Conference always serves up an interesting and informative programme and this year continues that ethos.”

LARAC

Lee Marshall, chief executive of LARAC, said: “The feedback we get from delegates year on year shows the LARAC Conference always serves up an interesting and informative programme and this year continues that ethos.

“The workshop sessions give people a chance to really tailor the conference to their needs and ensure they get the maximum value out of it. For local authority officers it is the place to network with others and exchange idea, thoughts and good practice.

“For those companies that supply local authorities with goods and services there is no other event where you have this number of local authority people and where you can learn the latest trends and developments in council street scene services.”
