Doncaster council has reappointed SUEZ as its waste contractor, after a ‘comprehensive’ tender process.

Doncaster council, in South Yorkshire, has reappointed Suez as its contractor

The local authority, in South Yorkshire, has chosen SUEZ to provide its waste and recycling collection service, under a contract which will last until 2025.

This decision came after a tender process which “followed legal and procurement guidelines”, with SUEZ’s bid “coming out on top”, the council reports.

The authority notes, following a public consultation of Doncaster residents, there will be some changes to waste and recycling collections under the new contract. Changes will be explained to residents over the coming months once the final contracts have been signed by Suez and the council.

Cabinet member for communities, the voluntary sector and environment, Cllr Chris McGuinness, said: “We are pleased to be able to announce that SUEZ will provide our waste and recycling service for the next 8 years. The decision process weighed each bid against the criteria we set out, and SUEZ’s bid was shown to be the best match.

“Once final talks have been had, we will be announcing the service changes that residents will see in their collections – I’m sure people will welcome the changes that are going to be introduced.”

Opportunity

Steve Holgate, director of municipal services at SUEZ, added: “We’re really pleased to have the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of Doncaster, as we have done for 25 years now, and look forward to starting the new contract period with a new service.”
