Andusia has announced a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) supply contract with London-based waste management company Powerday.
As part of the new contract, 10,000 tonnes of RDF will be supplied this winter to an Oslo energy from waste (EfW) plant run by Finnish energy supplier, Fortum.
Construction waste firm Powerday has the capacity to process over 2 million tonnes of construction, demolition, municipal, commercial and industrial waste a year. The deal comes as part of its commitment to provide 100% diversion from landfill solutions.
‘Bringing forward’
Andusia’s commercial director, Simon Little said: “I’m obviously delighted to have been able to help Powerday, having spent 10 years there I know the work that goes into preparing the RDF they provide.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the team there and bringing forward more options for their continued sustainable growth.”
Mr Little moved from Powerday to Cory Riverside Energy in May 2019, before joining Andusia as commercial director in August 2020.
Mr Little now manages and sources the company’s RDF supply contracts for both the export and domestic EfW market.
Expansion
Vice Chairman at Powerday, Edward Crossan, said: “This is another commitment we have made to ensure all residual materials we produce are diverted from landfill in the form of quality RDF and SRF, we know our materials are suitable for a variety of plants and I would hope Andusia will help our expansion into these market.”
New contracts
The new partnership with Powerday follows a number of new contracts secured by Andusia in recent months, including a 10,000 tonne RDF supply contract with Ipswich-based recycling firm, Sackers in August (see letsrecyclestory).
The company also secured a 60,000 tonnes deal with EVI near the German-Dutch border, and an 8,000 tonne agreement with Swedish plant Jönköping Energi’s Torsvik, to run until December 2020.
The company has also recently extended its bulk shipping deal with ARC (Amager Ressourcecenter), at their “Copenhill’ facility, based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
It now has a contract with the Danish plant to supply 30,000 tonnes per annum to the combined heat and power plant for the next two years.
